Embark on a classic China tour in Beijing, walk the Great Wall, rickshaw ride through alleys of ancient residential areas. Wander through the quaint street of the ancient Pingyao town, witness Terracotta Warriors and enjoy a fabulous Tang Dynasty culture show in Xian, cruise along the stunning Li River in Guilin, wind down among the serene mountain scenery of Yangshuo, experience the contrast of Old and Modern in Shanghai. This comprehensive trip is the showcase of diverse cultures, history and astounding natural landscapes in China.

Day 1 - 2 Australia / Beijing

Fly to Beijing, upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The next day visit China's architectural master piece: the Temple of Heaven, observe local leisure life in the neighbouring park. Leisurely walk through Tiananmen Square, to the Forbidden City for a visit. Afternoon enjoy a rickshaw ride through the zigzag alleyways called Hutong to catch a glimpse into traditional Beijing life. Sample the famous Peking duck dinner. (B/D)

Day 3 Beijing

Walk the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu section! Take a cable car up to one of the many watchtowers to view the winding wall as it rises and falls over mountains into the distance, walk your way down. Visit the Sacred Way to see stone carved animals and officials, and a Jade factory to see ancient craftsmanship on the way back to Beijing. (B)

Day 4 Beijing / Pingyao

Head off to the former imperial resort - the Summer Palace to see the lavishly decorated temples, halls, courts, and the Long Corridor, enjoy a relaxing Dragon boat ride before taking a train ride to Pingyao, upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 5 Pingyao

Today find yourself flung back in time as you behold the imperial Chinese fortress, watchtowers, intimidating wooden gates and sturdy walls. Stroll from Ming Street to the ancient city tower, Armed Escort Company Museum and the Temple of the City God. Visit Qiao Family Courtyard House, where the movie “Raise the Red Lantern” was filmed. Sample a local specialty lunch. (B/L)

Day 6 Pingyao / Xian

Experience a high speed train to Xian, take a stroll (or even a bike ride) on the original City Wall, sample local speciality - dumpling dinner and fantastic Tang dynasty culture show. (B)

Day 7 Xian / Guilin

Witness the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, where you will find 7000 individually crafted clay soldiers standing on guard. You will get a chance to learn how to make these warriors at a workshop, see the intricately carved murals and feel the Buddhists chanting at Big Wild Goose Pagoda, fly to Guilin. (B)

Day 8 Li River Cruise

Enjoy a spectacular Li River cruise, which passes bizarre-shaped mountains, villages and water buffaloes and fishing cormorants. Disembark at the traditional country town of Yangshuo, admire the stunning rural scenery and explore the local market. (B/L)

Day 9 Yangshuo

Spend a free day to unwind yourself in the tranquil countryside, or discover a local market, or try bamboo boat drifting, or take a cooking class or relax at a café shop, there are many activities to choose. (B)

Day 10 Guilin / Shanghai

Visit the Palace of Natural Art - Reed Flute Cave, where you will be surprised by colourful lights which highlight the stalactites within the caves, drive passed the beautiful Elephant Trunk Hill on the way to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 11 Shanghai

Morning walk around the beautiful Fuxing Park that mixes Chinese and French styles, watch locals singing, dancing, practicing tai chi, calligraphy and other leisure activities, and then stroll along the historic riverfront Bund to see magnificent colonial buildings and the contrasting view of “Old and New” Shanghai on both sides of Huangpu river, and then drive to Shanghai’s landmark - Oriental Pearl Tower for the panoramic city view from the glass bottom Skywalk. In the afternoon step back in time in the Old Quarter of Shanghai; visit the exquisite Yu Garden and neighbouring Bazaar. Sample the famous snack "steam pork bun" at your dinner. (B/D)

Day 12 Shanghai

Free time to explore or bargain shop or take an optional tour of the water town. (B)

Day 13 - 14 Depart Shanghai / Arrive Australia

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Australia and arrive in Sydney the next day. (B)
