10 Days: Paro l Thimpu l Punakha l Bumthang l Gangtey l Paro

Discover Bhutan’s spiritual valleys, visit dzongs, temples, monasteries, palaces and witness Bhutan’s scenic beauty of forests and Himalayan peaks. Travel to Punakha Valley, the monarchy’s birthplace of Trongsa and Gangtey - a glacial valley.

Day 1 - 2 Paro / Thimphu

Arrive in Paro, drive through the beautiful Paro valley to the capital city of Thimpu. Take a fascinating tour of the Memorial Chorten and see the world’s largest book at the National Library. Visit Tashi Cho Dzong fortress and learn about Bhutanese tradition and culture at the Folk Heritage Museum. Visit the nursery pen of the Takin - the national animal of Bhutan. (1B/1L/1D)

Day 3 Punakha

Take a scenic drive to the ancient city of Punakha, stop at Dochu-La pass (3,100m) for spectacular views of the rugged Eastern Himalayas. Visit traditional villages to see daily life in the most remote region of the Himalayan kingdom. Visit Punakha Dzong and the Divine Mad Man’s Temple and see its impressive traditional architecture. Day 4 Punakha / Trongsa / Bumthang

Drive over picturesque Pele La Pass (3,420m). Visit the beautiful Chendebji Chorten and enjoy spectacular views of a deep canyon at Trongsa Dzong. See an incredible collection of Royal Family artefacts at the Dzong museum. At Bumthang, see some of Bhutan’s oldest palaces and temples. (1B/1L/1D)

Day 5 - 6 Bumthang

Visit ancient Kurjey Lhakhang Temple and Tang Ugyen Chholing Palace. Discover interesting and ancient Buddhist wall paintings and get an overview of traditional rural Bhutanese life. Explore the village of Jake and a regional market packed with interesting mountain produce. (2B/2L/2D)

Day 7 Gangtey

Drive to Gangtey, where farmhouses and temples dot the landscape. Explore the wide and picturesque Phobjikha valley - one of Bhutan’s few glacial valley and the winter home of black necked cranes. (1B/1L/1D)

Day 8 - 10 Paro

Take a scenic drive through the balmy Punakha Valley to Paro. Trek to Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery located on the face of a cliff. The trek is around two hours uphill but worth it for the fantastic views. The tour ends with a hotel/airport transfer on Day 10. (3B/2L/2D)
