Day 1 Arrive in Hanoi

Upon arrival in Hanoi on the first day of your Vietnam holiday, your private guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.

Day 2 Hanoi

Start your Vietnam Holiday with a walking tour from historic Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum to his former residence, the House of Stilts. See the beautiful courtyard and gardens at the ancient Temple of Literature, then visit the Museum of Ethnology to learn about the cultures of different ethnic groups in Vietnam. In the afternoon take a leisurely stroll along the peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake, and explore the fascinating Old Quarter where ancient homes and temples are interspersed with traditional stores. Day 3 Halong Bay

Sit back and enjoy your first view of the northern countryside on the drive to Halong Bay, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Sail among limestone islands rising mystically from the water. Day 4 Halong Bay / Hue

Day 5 Hue

Day 6 Hue / Hoi An

In the afternoon, take a walking tour of Hoi An and visit ancient merchants’ houses, a Hokkien Temple, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and browse through the colourful riverside market. Day 7 Hoi An

Today you have free time on your Vietnam holiday to explore this ancient harbour town on your own. Consider hiring a bike to explore local streets, relaxing at a local cafe, joining a cooking class, or buying some handmade clothes. There are nearly 100 silk shops offering same-day services for tailor-made clothes at incredibly low prices. (B)

Day 8 Hoi An / Ho Chi Minh City

Continue travelling in Vietnam by flying to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest city. Explore the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing underground network of tunnels which stretches over hundreds of kilometres. You will have the opportunity to crawl through a section of the tunnels to learn how the brave locals built underground hospitals, kitchens and meeting rooms during their struggle for a unified Vietnam. In the evening, as part of this Vietnam tour, you will watch a cultural show whilst enjoying a relaxing dinner cruise along the Saigon River. (B/D)

Day 9 Mekong Delta / Ho Chi Minh City

Explore the lush countryside of the Mekong Delta, the “rice bowl” of Vietnam. Cruising through the canals, rivers and backwaters, you’ll learn about the daily lives of the local people. Taste exotic fruits, sample a Mekong specialty lunch, walk the island’s trails and go on a sampan ride through some of the small creeks. In the afternoon wander through Ho Chi Minh City’s historic Dong Khoi Street and visit the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum and Central Post Office. (B/L)

Day 10 Depart Ho Chi Minh City
