Day 1 Chongqing

On your arrival to the mountain city of Chongqing, you will be met and transferred to your cruise ship.

Day 2 - 3 Yangtze River Cruise

Sail through the Three Gorges and enjoy magnificent views of various peak shapes, rolling hills and small towns along the river. On-shore explore the Ghost City of Fengdu, take a Sampan (wooden boat) tour to one of the Yangtze’s tributaries, pass through the world’s biggest five level ship lock, enjoy a variety of Chinese cultural activities on board, such as Chinese silk embroidery lessons, Tai Chi morning exercises and more. Day 4 Xian

Visit the Three Gorges dam project, disemark and then transfer to the airport for a flight to Xian. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 5 Xian

Today visit the historically significant and amazing Terracotta Warriors - where 7000 individually crafted clay soldiers stand on guard. Learn how to make these warriors at a workshop. Take an afternoon stroll on the original City Wall, the most complete city wall that has survived throughout history and is also one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. Explore the Old Muslim Quarter - a home to a large Chinese Muslim population, feel the bustling atmosphere mixing with Middle Eastern influences, Taste a local specialty dumpling dinner before the fabulous Tang Dynasty culture show. Day 6 Beijing

See intricately carved murals and feel the Buddhists chanting at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Watch the musical water fountain show at the front square before transferring to the train station. Experience a high speed train to Beijing. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. (B)

Day 7 Beijing

Morning visit the Temple of Heaven - a masterpiece of Chinese architecture, obverse local people practising Tai Chi, calligraphy and singing at its neighbouring park, followed by a leisurely walk from Tiananmen Square, the largest square in the world, to the Forbidden City, the most glorious imperial palace in China. Take an afternoon tour of Summer Palace, the former imperial resort to see the lavishly decorated temples, halls, courts, and the Long Corridor, take a short relaxing Dragon boat ride across the Kunming Lake. Sample the famous Peking duck dinner. (B/D)

Day 8 Great Wall

Today is one of highlights on your China tour. Walk the Great Wall at the Mutianyu section! View the winding wall as it rises and falls over mountains into the distance, walk your way down. On the way back to Beijing, visit a Cloisonné workshop to see ancient craftsmanship, and photo stop at the 2008 Olympic site to see the modern architecture of the "Bird Nest" stadium and " Water Cube" aquatic centre. tonight watch a fantastic Kung Fu show, featuring a fusion of modern music with traditional Chinese martial arts! Day 9 Beijing/Shanghai

Visit the exquisite courtyard mansion of Prince Kung, enjoy a rickshaw ride through the zigzag alleyways called Hutong to catch a glimpse into traditional Beijing life, continue your travel in China on a high speed train ride to Shanghai. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. (B)

Day 10 - 11 Shanghai

Stroll along the historic riverfront Bund, where you will see 52 magnificent colonial buildings and the contrasting view of “old and modern” Shanghai. Then enjoy the under-river tram through the ‘Sightseeing Tunnel’, a light show and music feature while you travel from the Bund to the Pudong New Areas. Indulge yourself with a panoramic view of Shanghai from the top of the Oriental Pearl Tower. In the afternoon, head down the exquisite Yu Garden and wander through the Old Quarter and neighbouring Yu Bazaar. For dinner, taste local specialty pan fried pork buns before a fabulous acrobatic show. End your exploration of China on day 11 with a private transfer to the airport for your return flight. (2B/1D)
